The nose is vibrant, aromatic and juicy displaying ripe red fruit and an earthy complexity. On the palate, there is bright red fruit and a core of sweet dark fruit juiciness and soft attractive tannins. The palate has a plushness and complexity that will keep you thinking. An attractive wine that will benefit from decanting and medium term ageing of 3-6 years.
This is a wine made to capture all parts of the farm and give a true representation of the soil, the season and the site. We expect the blend to change each year, depending on the season. Some of the wine was co-fermented (season dependent) however most of the 2017 vintage was from selected barrels in the winery. There is some influence of wild ferment and whole bunch fermentation in the pinot noir and Syrah components. All components were aged in 4-7 year old French oak barriques and hogsheads with a small percentage of the merlot component being aged in a new oak barrel for a period of 6 months. Blended and bottled in November to capture the verve of the season and a sense of the site
